General Anesthesia
Pediatric dentists seek to provide quality of care and induce a positive attitude in the patient toward dental treatment. Some children and those with special health care needs require general anesthesia to receive comprehensive dental care in a safe and humane fashion.
What is general anesthesia?
General anesthesia in a hospital setting is a controlled state of unconsciousness like any other general surgery (tonsils, tubes in ears, etc.).
Is general anesthesia safe?
Although there are some risks associated with general anesthesia, it can be used safely and effectively when administered by a well-trained physician in a hospital setting. We currently see children at Parkview DeKalb for this type of visit.
